ICoNS’25 Abstract Submission Guidelines
ICoNS is accepting proposals for Platform presentations, Posters, and Lightning Talks to be held at the 2025 meeting of the International Consortium on Newborn Sequencing in London, UK on October 23-24, 2025. Please read submission instructions carefully before submitting.
All proposals must be submitted by 11:59 PM EST Friday, June 27th, 2025. Submissions that are incomplete by the deadline will be rejected. No revisions can be made after the abstract submission deadline.
ABSTRACT SUBMISSION INSTRUCTION
ICoNS Membership is not required to submit an abstract. We hope you will consider membership in the future.
Abstracts should represent original scientific research, and the body of the abstract should be limited to a maximum of 2,500 characters.
The work should not have been published as a manuscript at the time of submission. Abstracts that have been accepted as a presentation at other national or international conferences will still be considered.
Abstracts should focus on rigorous, data-driven conclusions without embellishment. Abstracts should not be advertisements, promotions or marketing tools for a particular product or service (See Commercial Nature below).
If the submitting author is not the presenting author, please provide the presenting author’s full name, affiliation, and email address in the designated section of the submission process.
Abstract suggested topics are listed below; however, abstracts outside these topics will also be considered.
We recommend structuring Scientific abstracts into:
Introduction: Provides context and explains the problem or research question being addressed.
Methods: Outlines the study design, research procedures, and techniques used.
Results: Presents the key findings of the study in a clear and concise manner.
Discussion and Conclusion: Interprets the results, highlighting the study’s significance and implications
Abbreviations: Use standard abbreviations. Place abbreviations in parentheses immediately after the first mention of a term or phrase; the abbreviation can then be used throughout the abstract.
Terminology: All sequence variants should follow HGVS nomenclature and variants should be classified as per the ACMG/AMP Guidelines.
Unstructured abstracts would also be considered based on their merit. Figures, diagrams, tables, images are not allowed. References are not necessary.
All presentations should be balanced, transparent, and supported by data.
ABSTRACT PRESENTATION OPTIONS
Poster Presentations Only: Abstracts submitted for Poster presentation only will NOT be considered for a platform presentation, regardless of score.
Platform Presentation Only: Abstracts submitted for platform presentation only will NOT be considered for a Poster, regardless of score.
Platform or Poster Presentation: Abstracts will be considered as a platform presentation or as a Poster, depending on score.
Abstracts selected for the Lightning Talks are required to present a poster.
ABSTRACT REVIEW PROCESS
After the submission deadline, all completed and eligible abstracts will be made available to the Abstract Review Committee for review and ranking.
Abstracts will be peer reviewed by multiple reviewers and ranked solely on their scientific merits.
Incomplete abstracts will not be reviewed.
Abstracts based on the same study with the same content reworded must not be submitted as multiple abstracts. Abstracts that are simply different versions of a single study will be rejected.
PRESENTING AUTHOR RESPONSIBILITIES
The Presenting author serves as point of contact for all correspondence regarding the abstract and ensures all authors have agreed to be co-authors, and have read and approved the abstract for presentation prior to submission.
The Presenting author will be available in-person to present the work and agrees to materially confine the presentation to information in the abstract, if accepted for presentation. If an author has more than one abstract accepted, each presentation will be materially confined to the information in the abstract in question.
Once an abstract is accepted, IN-PERSON registration for the meeting will be required for participation and publication.
An individual may be first author or presenting author of more than one abstract. If the first author should have multiple accepted Posters, then it is acceptable to designate one of the co- authors to present one of the Posters.
